LACNIC concluded their 25th edition celebrated in Cuba

This past Friday May 6th, LACNIC concluded their 25th edition, celebrated in Cuba, one of the countries with the lowest internet access rate in the world, yet once again chosen to host an event on IT. Under the organization of ETECSA, the only telecommunications company on the island, and with the participation and sponsorship of different global brands like Netflix, Copa Airlines, Infoblox and Huawei, among others, gathered over 400 professionals in technology and internet worldwide.

LACNIC, with their offices in Uruguay and Brazil, is the non-governmental company in charge of managing Internet resources for Latin America and the Caribbean.

The main objective of this meeting was promoting the use of IPv6 protocol for its beneficial features for the development of information technologies.

In the opening words of the appointment, the CEO of ETECSA, Mayra Arevich, stressed the willingness of the government of the island to develop IT in Cuba. The official representative explained that the embargo is the main obstacle to attain the desired development of telecommunications in the island.
